HSBC Penguins win the inaugural London 10s

Penguins | Sunday 5th June 2011 0:00am

The HSBC Penguins won the London 10s over the weekend of 4th and 5th June at the Richmond Athletic Ground. The team met on the Friday and started bright and early the next morning in the first game of the competition. The team comprised of players from London, Northampton, Bedford, Edinburgh, Lisbon and Dublin.

The team gelled and improved as the tournament progressed and were seeded first at the end of the first day despite a 10 all draw with the Bootleggers from Oxford in the opening game.

Captain Hugh Hogan and coach Steve Hill rallied the team well and they went on to beat the Bootleggers in the final on Sunday afternoon 36 to 7 with a convincing display.

Manager Nigel Clarke was justifiably proud of his team.
