The HSBC Coaching Academy was busy with another full-on week in Hong Kong, in support of the HSBC grass roots programme to develop and promote the game. Thanks also to Robbie McRobbie and the HKRFU for their support.
The academy was represented by Dean Herewini, Tony Robinson, Henry Edwards and Ben Breeze.
Over the week 12 different sessions where planned and executed as follows:

Sun 21st | Sai Kung Stingrays and the HKFC Colts. |
Mon 22nd | A session with local school children emphasising the principals and core skills as well as the fun of rugby. |
Tue 23rd | A session for Rwandan national team and then a 90 min skills and fun session for the Sandy Bay youngsters. The playing team took the lead in this coaching session. |
Wed 24th | A session with the LA Girls (a group of young woman on an exchange student programme in Hong Kong from Los Angles - this was their first experience of rugby), followed by Youth Coaching – Chinese children – an introduction to rugby and they were joined by some of the children from the Sai Kung Stingrays. |
Thurs 25th | Formal Coach Education - IRB Rugby Ready Part 1 for the Rwandan national team followed by a session for the Diocesan Boys school (this session concentrated on continuity and communication). |
Fri 26th | Formal Coach Education - IRB Rugby ready Part 2 for the Rwandan national team, followed by a coaching session for visiting Japanese girls to introduce them to rugby and finally a session for local school girls also introducing them to the game. |
